New percussionists should meet with Prof. Wojtera before August 24th.

For The Informal Symphonic Band Audition

The purpose of the audition is to determine optimal placement for ANY interested Radford students. You will be asked to perform a short solo/etude/ excerpt of your choice – something you are most familiar with. You may also be asked to sight-read a simple excerpt.

For The Wind Ensemble Audition

If you wish to audition for the Wind Ensemble, you will be asked to perform a short solo/etude/ excerpt of your choice, all major scales, and sight-read. All Music Majors (applied winds) should be prepare a Wind Ensemble audition.

Pep Band

Musicians who would like to perform with the RU PEP BAND should contact Mr. Matt Barbre, graduate conducting assistant. In most cases, Band members who are extended a band scholarship will be asked to perform with the RU Pep Band. There is no audition required for Pep Band membership.

Band Scholarships

As in past years, there are a limited number of Band Scholarships (work-studies) available. Based on instrumentation needs of the Band Program and merit, Dr. Gallops will determine who will receive these awards. Band Scholarship recipients will - in most cases - be expected to perform with the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band and Pep Band.
