Radford University is
offering its sixteenth annual group trip
to Italy for faculty, students alumni
and guests to attend the
87th
Festival of Opera in Verona, Italy
July 13-25, 2009.
The thirteen-day trip includes four
spectacular operatic performances and
opportunities to experience the culture,
history, geography, architecture, other
visual and performing arts, culinary
arts and public transportation systems
of northern Italy on a daily basis.
The total cost of $4,495 (subject to change dependent on available air fares and currency exchange rates) includes pre-trip Seminar/discussions, and Italian conversation tutorials, round-trip air fare from with hotel transfers, double occupancy with breakfast buffet at the three-star
Hotel De Capuleti (single occupancy add $290/triple occupancy subtract $90), one night in Venice, and reserved seat performance tickets.
Participants will attend four scheduled performances: Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Gioacchino Rossini) Wednesday, July 15th, Turandot (Giacomo Puccini) on Friday, July 17th, Aida (Giuseppe Verdi) on Wednesday, July 22nd, and Carmen (Georges Bizet) on Thursday, July 23rd (the Ente Arena di Verona reserves the right to change programs if necessary).
Maximum free time will make optional day
trips possible to such places as
Venezia,
Milano,
Trento,
Mantova,
Modena,
Vicenza,
Padova,
Bologna,
Firenze, and
Lago di Garda.
Optional later return dates are
permitted.
Group trip leaders are

Professor of Music and Department of
Music Chairman; and Maria Fellin,
Italian Language Tutor.
Students have the option of
registration in MUSC366.01 or MUSC666.01
TRAVEL STUDY: VERONA OPERA for one (1)
to three (3) credits.
The deadline for confirmed reservations with a $995 deposit is 5:00 p.m. on January 10, 2009 (Checks should be made payable to Radford University Treasurer). The balance of $3,500 is due on April 1, 2009.
